- Harry and Kathleen Hoff, doing business as Historical Development Properties, have purchased the old Duluth Carnegie Library building from the city for $46,000. They are remodeling the library building into offices, which they expect to begin leasing soon.
- Singer John Denver appeared last night at the Duluth Arena to a near-sellout crowd of 7,550. Denver performed 34 songs in the 2 1/2 hour concert, many from his latest album “Seasons of the Heart.”

- C.R. Smith of St. Paul yesterday opened the Duluth office of the Green Transportation Company, which will provide motor bus service between Duluth and the Twin Cities. Two 15-passenger cars will be used on the trip, which will take about seven hours.
- Superior public school students will have to provide their own paper, pens, ink, and pencils this school year after action taken yesterday by the Board of Education. The board voted not to award a contract for such supplies on the basis of the bids submitted.
