CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College women’s golf is set to open its 2023 fall schedule this weekend at the Nittany Lion Invitational, hosted by Penn State.
The 54-hole tournament spans two days – Sept. 16-17 – at the Penn State Golf Course’s Blue course. The tournament will begin with shotgun starts on Saturday (9 am) and Sunday (8:30 am). BC will be paired with Central Michigan during the continuous play first and second rounds.
Penn State’s blue course requires close attention to placement off the tee. A rewarding tee shot puts you in position to try your luck at carefully guarded greens. Twenty-seven strategically placed green side bunkers on the front nine will challenge your course management skills, and patience. The front nine provides a challenge to the most experienced player by demanding not only length but accuracy.
The back nine measures 3518 yards off the new Nittany tees and provides a quite different experience than the front nine. The back nine not only includes 16 green side bunkers, but adds to the challenge by including 11 strategically placed fairway bunkers. Water hazards on the 14th and the 18th can add pressure to a seemingly easy tee shot. The back nine will provide you with large undulating greens and a links style atmosphere.
