Mulching leaves can help improve soil and plant quality, prevent weed growth and help reduce the carbon emissions from leaf pick-up efforts.
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The city of La Crosse Parks Department is encouraging homeowners to mulch leaves in their yard.
Mulching leaves can help improve soil and plant quality and prevent weed growth.
It can also help reduce the carbon emissions from leaf pick-up efforts.
Parks leaders say it is all part of an effort to make the community more sustainable.
“It’s just something that each resident can do their little part to help create a more sustainable practice of returning nutrients that are growing our front yard,” said La Crosse Parks and Recreation Department outdoor recreation coordinator Leah Burns.
