The partnership is anchored on the shared goal of MPIC, MPIF and Huawei of protecting the environment with the help of cutting-edge technology solutions like IoT, AI and Cloud to help mitigate illegal logging in protected watershed and forest areas, thereby helping to protect the ecosystem.
The ceremony was attended by MPIC Chief Finance Officer and Chief Sustainability Officer Chaye Cabal-Revilla, MPIF President Melody M. Del Rosario and Huawei Philippines Vice President Daniel Guo.
Speaking during the event, Cabal-Revilla emphasized the importance of collaboration in promoting sustainability and bringing about positive change in communities. “I’ve always believed that sustainability is a collective responsibility. It is only through us working together that we will be able to achieve a pervasive impact to make a difference in the world,” she said, noting that “with the environmental necessity for us to protect Mother Earth, Huawei’s contribution will be of great help to the communities that we’ll be putting this into.”
Del Rosario expressed her gratitude for the partnership as well saying, “We at MPIF feel an even stronger sense of responsibility and accountability to further improve our programs and serve a greater purpose.”
“We are privileged to have a partner in Huawei Technologies, a company that is not only reliable but equally determined to achieve our goals for the present and for the future through Gabay Kalikasan,” she added.
Huawei shares the same sentiment and advocacies as MPIC and MPIF, especially in environmental protection and education. “MPIC is known for its effective and long-term sustainability programs. Huawei Philippines would like to join MPIC’s programs and be part of the great contributors to the Philippines,” Guo said. Huawei looks forward to having a continuing partnership with MPIC and MPIF. “We hope we can do better for the Philippines and we can learn better from Metro Pacific.”
MPIF’s strategic program is geared towards three fronts of social infrastructure: education, environment and economic empowerment.
On the other hand, Huawei promotes the use of technology to support sustainability, so that no one gets left behind in the digital world. Huawei’s strategy centers on digital inclusion, security and trustworthiness, environmental protection, and healthy and harmonious ecosystem, which are aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Together, MPIC, MPIF and Huawei hope to uplift the lives of Filipinos and contribute to the sustainable development of local communities and the Philippines as a whole.
