MOUNT VERNON, NY — Mount Vernon police say a story of road rage, gun violence and sustainable transportation came to a close after a car chase in New York City.
Mount Vernon police are still investigating a shooting that left a victim’s vehicle damaged.
At around 7:15 a.m on Sunday, Mount Vernon police responded to the 200 Block of South 5th Ave., on a report of shots fired with a vehicle hit. Police say the victim, Joel Okine, of Mount Vernon, told them he had just been involved in a road rage confrontation with a red Tesla.
Police say that during the incident, a shot was fired from the red Tesla hitting Okine’s vehicle. Okine was not injured by the gunfire.
The red Tesla was later spotted in New York City by NYPD. A car chase followed and ultimately three suspects were arrested.
Mount Vernon detectives are investigating the shooting and report that, so far, no arrests have been made by MVPD in connection with the weekend incident.
