With the government of Angola aiming to improve electrification while reducing emissions in the oil, gas and related sub-sectors, a series of policies have been implemented to ensure environmental sustainability across the entire energy industry.
The General Regulation on Environmental Impact Assessment and the Environmental Licensing Procedure
A presidential decree enacted in 2020 mandates that all energy projects implemented in the country must comply with Angola’s environmental sustainability policies. As a result, for a project to be implemented, it must undergo an environmental licensing procedure to measure aspects including emissions, noise and waste.
